There's A Bear

On our trip to Alaska we were looking for a bear
Everyone said, “You should find one there.”
So we searched on the shores, in the forests and the sea
Where, oh where, can the bear be?

Then someone told us that the bear is smart
They won’t show themselves if there are people are about
They like to play in the forest and down by the river
But they don’t come to places if people live there.

We asked again where we could see a bear
And a clever man said, “I know where!”
When you get to Anchorage, go visit the zoo
You will see bear there, at least one or two.

So we took a bus to the Alaska Zoo
There were lots of animals; owls and eagles too
And in the cage standing - Oh! So! Near!
Guess what it was – yes - A Big Black Bear

He walked around and scratched the ground
He humphed and growled and then lay down
He was big like a daddy, and round like a football
He had a black wet nose and long sharp claws

He had shiny dark eyes, and a shiny coat too,
I am so glad we went to the zoo!
